As a social media and fitness enthusiast, I want to create a unique community. One where like-minded people find motivation and establish connections with others who are working towards the same fitness and health goals, no matter what their professional fields.
My name is Christine Maalouf and I am currently a student at the American University of Beirut. Since childhood, attention to details has always been natural for me.
My journey began when my brother and his wife, who are both personal trainers, moved back to Lebanon from the United States. Inspired by their dedication to a fit and healthy lifestyle, I found myself unconsciously following their example. By choosing to make the better choices; eating healthier and exercising more, I lost 6 kilos (~13 lbs) in about 3 months. I felt more energetic, and more alive than ever, and although I had never struggled with weight issues per se, I began to see immediate changes in my body shape and people began commenting on how much leaner and healthier I looked.
This was an eye-opening experience for me. I suddenly became aware of how easy it is to get caught up in the rush of everyday life and how with a little effort and dedication we could all be living a much healthier life.
So, I wanted to share my experience!
It all began on Instagram, when Beirut Fitness was first launched as @instafitbeirut in September 2014. Since then the name changed to @beirutfitness and this blog is created, as well as other social media accounts, such as Facebook and Twitter.
I believe that fitness is not only about working out and lifting heavy weights but also about finding a balance between the body, the mind and the soul. Therefore, I am sharing my personal journey through posts which include a variety of food choices, such as easy quick recipes, restaurant reviews and recommendations (both healthy meals and cheat meals) as well as motivational quotes, yoga poses, some of my workouts, as well as fashion and wellness tips.
I hope that I can inspire you to lead a healthier and fitter lifestyle and that together we can work together becoming the best versions of ourselves.
